Driving in my car the other day I come to realise how much music has shaped me as a person. It’s unbelievable how influential it is. I’m sure you will agree with me on how powerful it is.
Music can serve multiple purposes. It can shape us politically, morally and socially.
Some songs can really rev your engine and provide the motivation you need to take the next action in life.
Take the Offspring’s song ‘The meaning of life’ for instance.
Listen to the lyrics:
On the way
Trying to get where I’d like to say
I’m always feeling steered away
By someone trying to tell me
What to say and do
I don’t want it
I gotta go find my own way
I gotta go make my own mistakes
Sorry man for feeling
Feeling the way I do
Other songs display what is going on in the world today, uncover injustices and make people realise that something has to be done about issues that are being ignored.
What about Pennywise’ song ‘Society’?
How long you pray makes no difference today
When it’s society devices how you’ll pay
When finding the truth makes no difference to you
Anyway you look at it you’re gonna get screwed
You lose
Every time I need something to pick me up I listen to ‘True Believers’ by Bouncing Souls. It makes me believe in where im truly going, where im meant to me. Have faith and believe in yourself, everything else will fall into place.
We live our life in our own way,
Never really listened to what they say,
The kind of faith that doesn’t fade away
We are the true believers
We are the true believers
This is a large part of why I became interested in music and played in a band.
It’s a form of communication that can reach the masses.
Music is a big part in some peoples lives whether we like it or not.
Whether you like the music I have posted above is not the point. The point is that music is a huge motivator and influence in what we do in our everyday lives.
To me, this is fuel to the fire.
